Ibn Sina, also known as Avicenna, was a prominent Islamic philosopher-scientist born in Central Asia (now Uzbekistan) in 980. Ibn Sina's mathematical work, particularly in his encyclopedic Kitab al-Shifa, classified mathematics into branches like geometry, astronomy, arithmetic, and music.
